Jerry Blackwelder brings to each new Blackwelder Communications project a wealth of experience based on more than 30 years in journalism, public relations, marketing, campaign consulting and freelance writing.

Since forming Blackwelder Communications in 1989, he has planned and implemented successful marketing strategies for corporations large and small and dozens of political candidates for local, state and national elected offices.
His career has also included serving the Governor, Speaker of the State House, United States Congressman, two state agencies, and the United States Department of Transportation in key leadership capacities. At the federal level he created, produced and distributed a nationwide television and print campaign against drunk driving entitled "Battle Zone" while serving during the Reagan Administration.  
Jerry’s writing has appeared in national consumer, business and trade publications. He also co-authored a book with South Carolina artist Jim Harrison entitled Pathways to a Southern Coast. In 1992 he wrote and published 43 Magazine for the Richard Petty Museum. He also serves as editor of the Carolina Heritage Guide and Carolina Field Trips Magazine.
